Concerns raised by the community included:

1. a lack of skills (to determine value),
2. a lack of resources [which could be considered to be the same as that above viewing the problem from a slightly different angle], and
3. lack of foresight (curators, especially in the cultural arena, have great difficulty in knowing precisely the future value of the assets in their care)

In addition, others raised doubts about how the message might be placed in front of the right audience.
"the message must be sent to and received by the very highest levels, the rest of us can only tinker with the detail"

How can we as a community address these issues?

For UK Universities, selecting what data needs to retained from research projects will be a crucial step in defining and delivering scalable and sustainable in-house curation services. The roadmap recommendation to establish value criteria for different communities of practice could be very helpful.
